Chasing Dragonflies Podcast Coming Soon

Chasing what, you say? Is this a podcast about insects? No, to understand the name, I’ve first got to introduce you to my Labradors, Lucy (the serious black), and Lilly (the forever sunny yellow).

Dragonflies frequent my Texas backyard in the mornings and early evenings. They glide throughout the yard and dance provocatively just above the water of the swimming pool. These Labradors are prolific chasers. They chase bunnies, squirrels, birds, and lizards in defense of our backyard and offer the reward of their exploits to me and the rest of the family dead or alive. But, dragonflies are the exception. The dogs chase the dragonflies out of sheer delight. They grunt, groan, and whine as they race around the lawn jumping, leaping, and finally launching themselves into the pool in hot pursuit of the elusive dragonfly. Neither dog has ever caught one, but failure hasn’t stopped them from trying. It occurs to me that so much of our lives are spent chasing. We chase things like control, approval, success, admiration, or even love. But, try as we might, the goal is often just beyond our reach. I’ve learned that in all of the things we chase, it is God who is chasing us. This podcast is designed to build community through conversations with friends who share stories of being caught by the God who pursues us all.
